Pre-MOT Checks

Before your MOT there are some simple and quick checks you can make to help understand the chances of your vehicle will pass its next test.

Many UK vehicles fail their MOT due to small problems that would be avoided if checked prior to the test. These include but are not limited to:

Mirrors - ensure they are all clear and attached appropriately
Tyres - check your tread depth in line with standard regulations of 1.6mm
Lights - ensure they are all in working order and function correctly
Windscreen wipers - ensure they are in decent condition and clear the screen efficiently
Fluid levels - check that all are topped up and at the correct levels for use
Horn - ensure that it works consistently
Number plates - check that your vehicle registration plates can be clearly read and are attached correctly
Vehicle cleanliness - ensure that your car is clean inside and out as an MOT tester can refuse to perform your test if it is dirty
